Sydney Friedman (they/them, Lenape land)

Sydney is a Queens based film editor and web developer,

and storyteller with over a decade of experience in film and digital media. Their work focuses on amplifying the voices of marginalized communities, with a particular emphasis on racial justice, LGBTQ+ visibility, and environmental sustainability. Sydney’s credits include films that have premiered at prestigious festivals such as Sundance, the Pan African Film Festival, and AFI DOC, as well as films streaming on platforms like HBO, Peacock, Netflix, and Amazon.

In addition to their film work, Sydney is deeply committed to advocacy, particularly in addressing the injustices within the criminal justice system, food security, and mental health care. Their projects, such as True Justice: Bryan Stevenson’s Fight for Equality and Angola: Do You Hear Us?, highlight the lived experiences of those affected by systemic oppression. As an active participant in grassroots movements, Sydney strives to use storytelling as a tool for social change, focusing on community-centered narratives and the importance of representation.

Outside of their professional work, Sydney is a passionate farmer and enjoys staying active through competitive Ultimate Frisbee, rock climbing, hiking, and exploring the outdoors. Sydney’s commitment to justice, equity, and inclusion extends into all areas of life, bringing an empathetic, collaborative approach to every project and every team.
